Here are 8 lacrosse youth drills which you should consider:
Solo Passing Drills
First, we will start with a couple of individual drills that you can do on your own:
1-on-0 Pretend Passing
We start from the bottom with a very simple drill, all you have to do is to pretend to pass without actually using a real ball but you need to make sure you're doing the basics right.
1-on-0 Stationary Passing
Don't let the fancy name confuse you. You will need a solid wall for this and all you have to do pass against that wall. You might think to your self that it's useless but trust on this, most skilled players will tell you they've been there.
Team Passing Drills
Now, we move to group based drill and as the name suggests, you will need at least a partner or more for these drills and in return, everybody gain benefits.
2-on-0 Passing on the Run Drill
Imagine or draw 2 straight lines or even paths in each you and partner run from starting point to the endpoint while passing to each other continually
Bonus Tip: This can be done too with a full team
2-on-0 Stationary Passing Drill
Back to basics, with the help of a mate pass the ball back and forth between each other and of course watch for basics or else it will worthless
2-on-0 Timed Stationary Passing
Set a timer on 30 seconds then start exchanging passes with your friend while actually counting the number of successful passes made (The more is the better)
2-on-1 Monkey in the Middle Drill
In fact, this is a very important drill because of its main focus on long distances. Set a distance between you and your partner (It's suggested to start with 10 meters or less at the beginning then increase it) and you also need another player whose role is to try to intercept each pass.
4-on-1 Passing Drill
This is a fast and fun drill. The settings are simple, all have to do is to line up to 4 players facing a single player which is the key element of this drill and plays a major role. Start with one of the four passers passing to the ball to the receiving player which need to act fast by passing the ball back to one of the players he chooses.
This drill is special because it involves both passing and catching at a fast rhythm.
The Zigzag Passing Drill
Now, with the whole team assembled, split them into two rows standing next to each other. Start by every player on the front taking a zigzag movement forward then passes the ball back to the next player in his row and so on.
