6 Simple and fun youth lacrosse shooting drills that you can practice to enhance your skills.
Let's start by realizing that shooting in lacrosse can be split into two main focuses, Long and Close-in shooting. Let's begin with the most obvious and easier one:
Focusing on close-in shooting:
The Single-line Drill
This is a very simple drill that starts with players lining up at the midfield and each one having a ball then they start running down in rapid succession and take close-in shots.
2-on-0 Shooting Drill
Players should form two straight lines on each side of the crease with a cone placed in the middle of the crease and every player holding a ball. Players will switch from side to side and shoot around the cone.
2-on-0 Passing Drill
This drill is also based on players forming two straight lines, the first one is the passing line and the second is the receptionists. The first line passes the ball straight to players located on the other line who should rapidly take a shot on the net.
Moving on to long shooting:
Single-line Drill
Very identical to the previously stated drill but this time with players lining up in the center with each holding a ball then they start running down to take a quick and straight shot from near the top of the box.
Two-line Shooting Drill
This second drill involves making two lines from the top of the box and then from the top middle. The lines alternate sides shooting starting first with right shots then moving to left shots.
Semicircle Long Shooting Drill
Now, this amazing drill is very helpful. It requires forming three lines in a semicircle near the top of the box. Players on each line take continuous shoots than move from side to side.
